Women’s Tech Showcase

In the greater Los Angeles area and many other areas there are virtual spaces where starts ups and new companies can work to develop their new idea(s); Be Great Is one of those and on Wednesday night HostesstoHostess was apart of the showcase. We got great feedback and great attention from many of those that came to the showcase…I’m going to say not only was the display fabulous but we presented things a bit differently then others and it really worked. In fact it worked so well myself, the other intern, and our boss talked non stop all night. Our goal was to talk to as many people as possible and draw them in and we did that. I’m proud of us. I’m proud of me for nailing my “pitch” so much that some people didn’t expect me to be the intern.

It can be so nerve wracking talking to a bunch of new people but when you draw them in, half the work is done and now it’s just up to you to close the deal and keep them interested. Here are pictures of the display below; get inspired. Stand out.

I’m obsessed bouquets full of white flowers and I think the contrast of a black vase really make the arrangement stand out. So chic! Thankfully because of an intense relationship I had last Summer with mason jars, I have a few laying around. With a coat of paint they can easily be transformed and repurposed to use this Spring. This little project is beyond simple. You can complete the look of a room or the theme of a party in just seconds with these painted jars.

5 Tips for Networking

Tuesday night I went to a networking event hosted by Be Great Lab Partners with my boss from Hostess to Hostess and it was definitely a great experience. I found out about the event on EventBrite and the great thing is the virtual space where my internship is held is also owned by Be Great Lab Partners. The event was based around technology and subscription companies and though there were a lot of men it definitely is something that be can be used to our advantage as women. I’ve networked and been to networking events before but that was back in college (as if I’ve been out forever) but nonetheless it is something that is worth doing and really you never know who you may meet. If anything it is a way to make new friends even if you never work with the people you meet. Based on my experience I wanted to share 5 tips that I think will make your next networking experience a bit smoother.
